Product Introduction | Baicalin is a flavonoid compound isolated from the dried roots of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, a dicotyledonous lamiaceae plant. It is a pale yellow powder at room temperature and has a bitter taste. It is insoluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, slightly soluble in chloroform and nitrobenzene, almost insoluble in water, and soluble in hot acetic acid. It is green in case of ferric chloride and produces orange precipitate in case of lead acetate. Dissolved in alkali and ammonia water, it initially appears yellow, and soon becomes dark brown. It has significant biological activity, has antibacterial, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, cholesterol-lowering, anti-thrombotic, asthma-relieving, detoxification, hemostatic, anti-fetal, anti-allergic and antispasmodic effects. Specific inhibitors have the effect of regulating certain diseases and also have a strong anti-cancer response physiological effect. |
