Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic acid,HA), the sodium salt of Hyaluronic acid, is a linear high molecular weight mucopolysaccharide composed by thousands of repeating disaccharide units of D-glucuronic acid and N-ACETYL-D-glucosamine. s,with the molecular weight of 10 k ~ 4 million Dalton. It widely exists in the extra-cellular matrix (ECM) of human and vertebrate tissues and the capsules of some streptococcus, has important physiological functions. Hyaluronic acid has excellent compatibility and can be added into almost all kinds of Cosmetic products. However, because of its characteristic of big molecule chemical structure and having high viscosity, the dissolution process is relatively slow. Usually the higher the molecular weight, the more time it takes before complete dissolution.
Functions of HA
• A component of matrix: HA is major component of intercellular and extracellular matrix. It plays an important role in maintenance of normal structure and function of cells.
