Citrus Aurantium Extract refers to a citrus tree and its fruit. It is a hybrid between Citrus maxima and citrus reticulate. Many varieties of bitter orange (citrus aurantium) are used for their essential oil, which is used in perfume, as a flavoring, and as a solvent. Citrus aurantium Extract is also employed in herbal medicine as a stimulant and appetite suppressant, due to its active ingredient, synephrine citrus Aurantium supplements have been linked to a number of serious side effects and deaths, and consumer groups advocate avoiding the medicinal use of the fruit. There is, however, no occurrence of diverted citrus Aurantium extract for the manufacture of amphetamines, and the naturally occurring citrus Aurantium extract is due to its phenolic group, unsuitable for such diversion.
