Originally discovered in Brazil, Agaricus blazei has been widely consumed in many countries, where it is regarded as a kind of health food.

Physiological Functions
The Agaricus blazei polysaccharides appear to activate a type of white blood cell known as macrophage. The function of macrophages is to filter the blood by destroying viruses, bacteria, and perhaps even cancer cells.
